MeroMed Health: Where Compassion Becomes Care
History of Healing and Hope

Our Story
In January 2025, two visionary and dedicated nurse practitioners, Dr. Jean Merozier and Dr. Jean Medina, formed MeroMed Health to address a pressing crisis affecting their communities in Florida. The crisis encompasses a high number of preventable deaths and diminished lives due to untreated HIV, mental illness, and chronic disease, particularly among underserved populations.
As primary care clinicians in HIV and psychiatric mental health, we had dedicated years to serving patients at the forefront of Florida’s healthcare system. Our observations were deeply concerning: individuals were suffering silently, often living with untreated HIV, battling chronic illnesses, depression, substance use, and stigma.
These were not isolated incidents; they were individuals—mothers, fathers, sons, brothers, sisters, neighbors, and friends—who were falling through the cracks of an inadequate system unable to provide adequate support. Recognizing this urgency, MeroMed Health was established as a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring dignity, hope, and comprehensive care to the most vulnerable communities. Our commitment is to address the root causes of illness rather than merely treating symptoms.
Our Mission
MeroMed Health provides culturally competent and accessible healthcare to individuals affected by HIV, mental illness, and chronic illness, particularly those facing barriers due to poverty, stigma, or inadequate insurance coverage. Our services extend to communities in Broward County, Florida, through direct patient care, mobile outreach, virtual care, and strategic partnerships.
Our mission is to restore dignity and improve health outcomes by delivering expert care directly to those in need.
MeroMed Health did not establish itself with a substantial multimillion-dollar endowment. Instead, it began with unwavering determination, passion, and a profound conviction that every life holds significance, particularly those marginalized by poverty, mental health challenges, and HIV-related stigma.
Through grassroots fundraising, local community support, and early private grants, Dr. Merozier and Dr. Medina will initiate MeroMed’s inaugural programs in Broward County. We will forge partnerships with local clinics, churches, and other 501 (C) 3 organizations, creating a comprehensive safety net for those who previously lacked any support.

Organizational Goal
- Expand Access to Healthcare Services: Increase our reach by opening additional community health clinics and mobile units in underserved areas.
- Enhance HIV Prevention & Treatment Efforts: Strengthen outreach programs, increase testing accessibility, and provide comprehensive treatment and support.
- Improve Mental Health & Chronic Illness Management: Integrate holistic mental health support with chronic disease care for a more comprehensive approach.
Within the next five years, we aim to expand our impact by serving an additional 10,000 individuals in underserved communities. This expansion will lead to measurable improvements in health outcomes, including a 20% reduction in HIV transmission rates, a 30% increase in access to mental health services, and a 25% enhancement in chronic illness management through targeted interventions and collaborative partnerships.
Meeting Health Needs With Heart and Purpose

Holistic Focus on Health Needs
We focus on three primary areas of concern:
HIV Services: Screening, treatment, and ongoing support for individuals affected by HIV.
Mental Health: Compassionate counseling to reduce stigma and promote emotional well-being.
- Chronic Illness: Support and education for managing conditions like diabetes and hypertension.
